Saw some powdered galanga and some powdered lemongrass at one of our
local markets. Anyone ever use such a thing? Did it make a reasonable substitute for the real thing or is it a total waste of money? Regards, - John Frawley |

Dried should be available in cellophane packets and adds a nice texture. Buy fresh lemongrass. Stick one in a pot and grow yer own. If ya have a yard, even better! -- Nick, KI6VAV. They could have been old, though. I've also tried trimmed lemongrass stalks bottled in water - same result. -sw |

You have to wait for the turpentine to evaporate, then drink it. I can't even taste how bad it is any more. I wouldn't touch it when I first got here but now I drink at least a gallon of tap-water every day. -sw |

We only get frost a few days a year and not real cold. So far, ours have survived. Google on Lemongrass Frost. You should be able to get live lemongrass in any Thai/Asian market. -- Nick, KI6VAV. Powdered Lemongrass is particularly useful in a marinade for grilling meats.
