Default eater's guide to Chinese characters

I've been searching for this book for ages, but could not find it for less
than US$69. I was doing yet another search and found that it's being
printed again! According to amazon.ca, it should be available May, 2004 for
the low low price of $16.78 Canadian. Yay for me! Interestingly, though,
the information is only on amazon.ca but I could find no mention of it on
amazon.com. Hmm...

I've owned a copy of this for many years. Is the old edition
being reprinted or is this a new edition?

That I don't know. I had wondered about that, myself, but there was very
little information given. Does the first edition have 2400 pages? This is
the only additional information on amazon.ca

Paperback - 2400 pages (May 1, 2004)
Language: English
Univ of Chicago Pr ISBN: 0226555925

Not even close to that many. I don't have it handy at the moment,
but mine is a slim paperback volume--perhaps 200-250 pages.

My suspicion is that 2400 is a typo for 240.

Yeah, mine is 240 pages without the index. I think McCawley is deceased,
however. But great news, and thanks, Rona!!

I was thinking 2400 was an awful lot of pages :-). Japan Inside Out doesn't
even come close to that, and it was one heavy book to be lugging around on
short trips much less to restaurants!
