China pins food-security hopes on humble potato
 

Ina "say it ain't so!" story in the WashPost story today, it was
reported that China is pressing for far greater production and
consumption of potatoes. Apparently, potatoes can grow better in poorer
soil than rice, and can fit in between rice-growing cycles too.

Portion control is the secret, Lee. One slice of pizza puts me over
200mg/dL in a few hours, but one bite (impossible, I know) won't spike me
at all.

the one thing i have learned is portion control, i can control all of it, I
am now working on frequency, and while my system requires strch on a pretty
regular basis, i have learned that brown rice and whole wheat pasta are not
only good for me they taste good as well, if i stick with the "healthier
starches, and less processed ones i have very little trouble now, Lee

I eat Thai Jasmine Brown rice, and it tastes really good. My diabetic
friend says it doesn't spike his blood sugar at all.

There are three long-term solutions, two of which have already
been demonstrated many times: Crusades and plague.

And it's already been widely publicized that they make soy sauce
out of people, which make an excellent source of protein. So why
not expand on that idea? Soylent Green is the third solution.

With either of those solutions, the more people you have the
better the results.

Well, Bush has left office, so new crusades are unlikely. I think a
plague will occur sooner or later, because our antibiotices, due to
abuse, are losing their effectiveness, while we train bacteria to evade
our defenses.

But, yeah, people should be a good source of protein, and they probably
taste like chicken anyway....

I'm pretty sure I'll taste more like beef and lamb than any white
meat. I can't speak for anyone else except vegetarians, who would
probably taste 'grassy'.

Aye, but those cows are vegetarians too, minus the prions in their feed. I'm
thinking I'll enjoy the vegans more than carnivores like myself.

A little fat and marbling in your meat is a good thing. I'm afraid the
vegetarians might cook up a bit dry. Probably best to brine them first....

OTOH, a habitual Popeye consumer might not turn out so well either.

Maybe I should stick to real chicken!
