Default Cook, Freeze, Defrost Balut?

Okay. Talked to a friend who is into Balut. Said I could cook them for 30
minutes in boiling water, take them out and freeze them, then defrost them
later and serve them (not very good taste compared, but no food poisoning...
Which is my real goal here.)

Thoughts? Comments? Sources for stuff like Durian and Balut that are
"strange" foods to most???

Well, not officially the Fear Factor dude... just doing a similar event
since the 1980's... Before NBC. Don't want them coming after me with
lawyers ya know.

Lots of good ideas. Thank you!

Ever have straight Laverbread?

Nice! Great prices too. Now if I could just find those frozen baby mice
for next month... Well, that might be taking it too far.

THANK YOU!

How much would you have charged him?

Um... Well... That's a tough one. They are generally 7th - 12th grade
kids so waivers don't help any. Its the parents we have to speak with and
since it is actually a church outreach group, there aren't many parents
around until the kids get plugged in and invite them out to our "normal"
services.

That is one of the reasons I have to be extremely careful about what we do.
It can't be too far over the edge and I consult doctors within the church
before I do anything. We are fortunate enough to have a very diverse group
with people from somewhere around 30 countries attending so I can almost
always find someone who knows about the item to fill the doctor in if the
doctor isn't up on the latest Thai fried bat I'm serving or something...

Bottom line - no waiver... But a heck of a lot of precautions to protect
them and us.

Okay... But would spooning it out of a container directly into the mouth be
a good challenge for a non-laverbread eater?

The pet store knows me well... But somehow, I feel the ones they sell in
frozen blocks for snake feeding might be more sanitary. Doesn't matter.
That's one line I can't really figure out how to cross safely anyhow so it
won't be done anytime soon... Unless... What if I fully cook 'em.......
