Default Cook, Freeze, Defrost Balut?

Okay. Talked to a friend who is into Balut. Said I could cook them for 30
minutes in boiling water, take them out and freeze them, then defrost them
later and serve them (not very good taste compared, but no food poisoning...
Which is my real goal here.)

Thoughts? Comments? Sources for stuff like Durian and Balut that are
"strange" foods to most???
