Yes, this is spam, folks, but the real question is, what wine goes
with this popcorn? Buttery, oaky chardonnay?

The happy buyer ratio is mostly bull anyway. What counts is how long
the have been selling or buying.

Selling cheap and increasing the shipping costs is a way to get around ebay
fees since they are charged on the goods, not shipping. Check the total
cost to see if it is a good deal.

Ebay has a mechanism in place to report sellers who appear to be
over-charging on shipping. Ebay initiated rules about 6 months ago to try
and solve that issue.

It's not so very low when you have over 500 transactions, but I agree that
nearly $25 doesn't strike me as what parcel post would cost, not everywhere
in the lower 48. (According to <http://www.usps.com/rates/parcel-post-
rates.htm> it goes by distance & weight.)

But he's really stretching it in the description, for example when he says
the item is "BRAND NEW. Never used." Can you imagine anyone paying for used
popcorn? :-))

I would encourage anyone to avoid buying from this spammer. Or any spammer.

However, a quick discussion about pricing might be in order. PayPal
charges the vendor a percentage of the sales price, but not of the
shipping. So some vendors put low prices on stuff with a "buy it now"
option and really high shipping. Of course it doesn't cost $25 to ship
the popcorn. Of course the popcorn is worth more than a penny.

As a buyer, look at the total of the sale price and shipping and decide
if that is a reasonable total. eBay has recently changed the sort
options on their displays so you can sort by the price + shipping costs,
which makes comparisons easier.

Personally, I think that this approach - low price with high shipping
costs - is unfair to PayPal and I don't buy from sellers who do that.
As a seller, I don't do that either. It's just not right! If you don't
like PayPal, don't use them. If you use them, you should pay them
fairly for their services.

Well, IMHO their fees are pretty high, and they are raking in billions for
little more than running a big website. And they own Paypal too, who takes a
nice chunk of each sale as well...if you accept credit cards.

So I feel nothing for Ebay as far as losing a few bucks here and there.
But, I sell my stuff for actual shipping on principle.

All they do is run a web site?

FYI,.they employ 13,200 people. That is a lot of families living the good
life with food and housing because they have a job with a profitable
company. Their stock is publicly traded so you can buy a piece of the
action and make money too.

Jump on and get rich too http://investor.ebay.com/faq.cfm
