Default Introducing Myself...

I've been referred here both by email and by post in another group. The topic came about when I
made the distinction between "grilling" and "barbecueing." (sp?) So, I thought I'd stop by, check
the place out, and see what's up here.

As just a bit of background, I'm into middle age now, and I work at home, but the majority of my
adult life was spent working first as a prep cook, then a line cook, then a sous chef, and finally
as a chef. No "formal" training, really, just a lot of hands-on learning in various restaurants
where I worked. I finally burned out in the business, and decided to get out while I still enjoyed
cooking.

Looking forward to browsing through the group, reading posts, and meeting people, since I'm a major
fan of both good southern barbecue and of grilling. I'm fortunate to have a covered porch, so I can
grill almost daily in the spring, summer, and fall, and I've been known to also get out there in the
dead of winter, as well.

Nice to make your acquaintance, everyone...

Welcome, LP.

There is a lot of knowledge here that is usually cheerfully shared.
Some are just long time avid meat burners like myself, but there are
others that actually own barbecue joints.

I certainly think with your background you could be a great
contributor. A lot of us don't just barbecue or grill, but we cook a
lot of other things as well.

So hang around and post as often as you want, with questions or
contributions!

Robert

Yep, 70% of what's said here is an iteration/variation of the FAQ, so
reading (and practicing) that will get you a looong ways, another 5%
good grilling stuff, another 10% propane related and the rest bleh.

But damn if there's not some good stuff if you pay attention to the
details, I'm gonna try making Frohe's kickin' sauce this weekend. Then
there were the Dragon turds........

Welcome LP, you might also check out the alt.binaries.food
group also. A lot of the posters here share their photos over
there.

This looks like a good spot to refresh the group charter. Kent
looked
this up two years ago and reposted it. Thanks Kent. Also thanks to
Eskwired for chartering the group in the first place.
