Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

Default Kinda funny arguement

Had some friends over who have never tasted my que.

Tim is a southern boy as is his wife Sandy (well, southern girl in
fact). They and their 4 teens came over to spend the holiday
(Independence Day) with us and I promised real que'd pulled pork.

Tim and Sandy both love que.

Tim and I had eaten at "Famous Dave's" together once and he thought it
was "real good".

After eating my que Tim and Sandy both said it was the pest que'd
pulled pork they had ever had! This even after I put Tim to work
helping me pull!

OK, so it helped that they were all starving by the time it was
served.

Tim and Sandy are both bathers. Yes, they shower. But they also like
their pork bathed in sauce.

Sandy commented "I really love your sauce too. After all, that's the
meaning of BBQ."

At first I thought she meant that as a compliment. Then I asked her
what she meant by that.

Sandy explained that BBQ is defined as meat cooked with sauce. That's
what que is.

I asked her husband Tim what his definition is. He agreed with Sandy.

I went on to explain...low heat, long time, over wood, making less
tender cuts of meat tender, smoke as seasoning......

Sandy asked, "Are you sure"?

This discussion went on for awhile.

Tim made my point for me. He said, "I can't make what you are eating,
and you can't make what you are eating. I think he knows what he's
talking about".

It was funny the next day when their daughter called to check in
(their only off spring that didn't come along) and Tim told her that
we had real que the night before. He was EXPLAINING what que really
is!

Tim, Sandy, and 5 teens.......educated and converted!

LOL!!!!

What Is a Veteran?

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is
someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to
'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his
life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country
today, who no longer understand that fact.
