Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

I'm skeptical now, after the recent thread.

We're invited to a birthday party that's being held at a Famous Dave's in
Peoria, AZ. The celebrant and her husband have been there before and said
they really liked it, but they're not BBQ experts by any means.

I hope for better than what I've read. :-(

Well, I wouldn't go there on purpose, and I wouldn't eat the ribs if I had
to go, but the pulled pork is actually pork shoulder cooked in a Southern
Pride smoker. I know this because I do have the opportunity to be in their
kitchen at 7am, and have torn off large chunks of sampling meat with my own
bare hands. It tasted good. Now how it tastes plated 6 hours later, I dunno,
but its pretty good pork right outta the cooker.

But I wouldn't eat their ribs.

Well, I'll know all about it on Saturday. :-) I wonder if it varies much
from location to location. There are three locations in the Phoenix area.

I think they're planning to order several of the huge combination platters,
so there will automatically be a choice. Hopefully something I'll enjoy.

Consider yourself snipped.

There were ten of us for the birthday party at Famous Dave's tonight. The
party was fun, the Buffalo wings were pretty good, the bread pudding was
delicious, but the BBQ wasn't BBQ. I wasn' surprised after reading the
commentary here.

I don't care if you're succinct. I just don't want to scroll down through 42
previous posts worth of shit I've already read just to get to the part I'm
trying to read now. Snip all but the part you're responding to and you make
life easier for everyone. I believe its just common usenetiquette...maybe
I'm wrong.

That being said, thank you. And at least the bread pudding was good. You
really should pop in one morning around 7am for a delivery and try a hunk of
pork straight outta the cooker. It really ain't bad for oversized piece of
shit chain restaurant bbq....but mine's better.

And I wouldn't eat their ribs. ;-)

There are too many better places for BBQ here in the greater Phoenix area
to bother going back there, although I would go if invited

Actually, the ribs tasted better than their brisket. The brisket had an
odd flavor.

Tried one of those franchise places in Texas last year. I would equate
it to a "McDs BBQ". (but didn't try the bread pudding).
