USDA Prime beef has been dirt cheap here at H.E.B. Austin the last
3-4 weeks. This week rib steaks are $7.99 (last week $9.99). Strip
steaks have been $7.99 the last 3 weeks as well. You won't ever
find anything like this at <cough> Wal****ingmart.

A measly $15 steak:

http://i44.tinypic.com/20z44y8.jpg

(That would cost about $70-80 at Ruth's Chris)

Cooked to an even 126F all the way through:

http://i43.tinypic.com/eupmpj.jpg (lousy picture, I know)

And plated with yesterdays leftover taters and completely from
scratch chicken sausage and poblano stuffing:

Ain't Texas grand?

Heck, I'm probably less than a couple miles from you now that I got me a
house in South Austin-I don't smell it from here yet!

I forgot you said you had a house down here now.

Oh - That's right. You're right next to the park.
You won''t smell it from all the way up there. We southerners call
where you live "Central Austin". P'Tooey!

So this Michelle Haram, is she hot? Does she have a Brit accent?

Looks done to perfection. :-)

I've never eaten at Ruth's Chris.
Just can't justify spending that kind of money for one meal...

That's a darned good looking piece of meat. Did it taste like it'd been
aged any? That would have been icing on the cake, so to speak.

Wasn't aged. Maybe "wet aged", but certainly not dry aged.
Not at $8/lb.

Thanks, I've been so busy with my son and his family visiting us from NJ
that I haven't looked in the meat case at my local fav HEB. I'll be sure
to get over there.

Looks like some crazy fat with meat in it. I'd eat that if it were the
only meal left in the world.

Looks like they serve some sloppy shit in Texas. But that's the USA
