Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

A friend sent me a .pdf file that has quite a few recipes from well
known eateries like Outback, Popeye's. It's surprising how straight
forward many of the things I enjoy are when it comes to seasoning and
cooking them.

Lucky you!!! How do we bribe this friend of yours, or bribe *you*?

Kinda suspicious timing considering I just posted a link to my page to
RFC yesterday morning - containing that same PDF file.

http://sqwertzme.googlepages.com/home

And don't forget Nick's (and Jun's and Komal's) book of Thai Recipes:

Sorry, Steve. I didn't mean to step on your glory. I confess to not
always reading or researching everything posted in this newsgroup before
saying something. Thank goodness I didn't give a URL to the file. My
information came from a cousin in MO. Perhaps she read your
announcement and went around you. I'll do my research next time. Sorry.

Sheldon pretty much gets his ass kicked nowadays. He has fallen
from his former glory and Gone Nuts. You can easily killfile him.

Ubiquitus is the other one. He has a hard-on for Sandra
whatsherface but nobody pays attention to that psycho.

RFC requires carefully-tuned killfiles. And even they don't work.
But I'm determined to see it through it's death.

sigh...Denny, please vouch for me to Sqwertz? I've got a gmail
account, yes, but it's not because I'm a spammer.

I'm not sure why that happened. This post came through unobstructed.
I just did a mass plonk of a bunch of people in another group and
for some reason you went with them for just a moment.

It seems to be fine now. I know you're good people.

ObBBQ: County Line BBQ (On The Lake Austin) last weekend. When we
complained about the sauteed mushrooms being too salty, the waitress
offered to rinse them off. I shit you not.

Where do they find these people?

Thanks, Sqwertz. I wanted to thank you for posting the recipe links,
and not have you think that I was a lowly spammer. ;-)

One of the reasons I use gmail is that it actually has really good
filters and all the spam that goes there (as this addie is not munged)
actually DOES wind up in the gmail spambox automatically and not in my
gmail inbox.

But I'm glad you know I'm good people, even before Denny vouched for
me.

Favorite place for us. The best deal is their hot link appetizer. I
just get that and make a sandwich or two. Even then, there's plenty
left over to share.

That *is* a good point, especially where Thai food is concerned. ;-)

Nonny, I used to rely on Copykats, though I don't think it has as much as it
used to. Here's recipe for KFC fried chicken:

I thought KFC was fried in a pressure cooker. What happened to the "11
herbs and spices" <vbg>

Marty, this is why I love Usenet. I learn something new every day.

To be fair, DH and I visited the Col. Sanders office when we were in
Louisville, KY a few years ago. That's where I learned he pressure fried
his chicken. I have a pressure cooker and I've seen recipes for doing it
at home, but I'm not brave enough to put that much oil under pressure. :-)

I've got a friend that'd agree with ya. When I was 15 I worked at a local
resteraunt that pressure cooked it's chicken. I changed jobs and recomended
him for mine. He was loading the chix in the cooker closed the lid and the
latch had malfunctioned. He (very mistakenly) tried to hold it down.
Needless to say eventually he coudn't and ended up spending a few days in
the hospital with severe burns on his arms.

I need to call that guy.
