Default Borg now adds "solution" to standing rib roast

Just got back from shopping at walmart-happened to see something new
in the vac sealed meat case-bone in standing rib roast-was checking
out one of the ribs and noticed this "Up to 12% solution added". How
can they justify this-yeah supposedly hams have to be injected for
curing-but what is with injecting beef. I wish they would just
increase the price by 12%-don't need the salt in my diet. Sad cause
the ribs were really nice.

I tried a pack of their spare ribs ("Up to 12% BS") and they were
*terrible,* so salty we couldn't eat them. I threw them away they were so
bad.

You gotta read everything sealed in cryovac nowadays, and think twice
about paying more for water and salt.

They opened a supermarket wing on a MalWart here so I checked it out. There
was NOT ONE meat item in their coolers without an ingredients list. All was
tampered with. Everything else looked like a regular supermarket, but with
higher ceilings and more fat people.

Agree that it seems very unnecessary to inject a solution in a rib
roast. Properly cooked, they are plenty juicy already. And as you say
many people don't need or want the additional salt.

I don't think they should raise the price by 12% however. Within the
last week or so, I saw bone in rib roast for $12.48 lb. These were about
4-5 lb. I have seen recently rib eye steaks(boneless) for 10.98 lb.
Doesn't make sense to me to charge less for a single boneless steak,
than for a 4-5 lb bone in roast.

I have bought bone in rib roasts for 3.98 lb. It's been a while, about 5
years ago. But that is not so terribly long ago that it justifies a
price increase of over 300%.

My .02.

Happy Q'en,
BBQ

Just an observation. Fat people are everywhere, but they must have had a
convention the day I was there.
