What's your usual procedure? Low and slow, over fire (lump charcoal, or wood burnt down to coals) for several hours. Until the meat pulls back from the ends of the bone, and the meat slightly cracks when you bend the bones toward each other. Boiling makes pretty good stock and removes the flavor from the meat. TV cooks are all about saving time and making things simple, or using sauces for taste. You might as well put sauce on rice cakes if that's the taste you (not necessarily *you*) are after. BOB |

Ribs can be cooked any number of ways, but the method you describe isn't barbecue. It is boiled and grilled. The FAQ may help you come into an understanding of what 'Q is: http://www.eaglequest.com/~bbq/faq2/toc.html There is a section on ribs that will enlighten :-) |

Sweat Baby Ray's would probably taste pretty good on rice cakes, but I wouldn't waste it on boiled ribs. -- M&M ("The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. "American Style Baby Back Ribs"
Says nothing about BBQing. "they've always been boiled before BBQing." They did not BBQ anything; they boiled and then placed onto a finishing grill. BBQ is a type of cooking process that has been *******ized into anything that is cooked over coals or gas is called BBQ. If it is not cooked low and slow over some form of charcoal it is Faux Q, which is commonly said to the cook that served a *******ized version of true BBQ. You can make OK ribs by boiling and finishing on a grill, but you can make EXCELENT ribs if they are BBQed. Ted |
