My Dad passed away this morning.

He was alert and very talkative when I spoke with him yesterday.

His body just finally gave up overnight.

them eternal rest, O Lord, and may everlasting light shine upon them.)

My condolences on your loss.

Of all the money ere I had, I spent it in good company,
And all the harm I've ever done, alas was done to none but me
and all I've done for want of wit, to memory now I can't recall
so fill me to the parting glass, goodnight and joy be with you all.

Of all the comrades ere I had, they're sorry for my going away,
and all the sweethearts ere I had , they wish me one more day to stay,
but since it falls unto my lot that I should go and you should not,
I'll gently rise and softly call, goodnight and joy be with you all.

If I had money enough to spend and leisure time to sit awhile
there is a fair maid in this town who sorely has my heart beguiled
Her rosey cheeks and ruby lips, I alone she has my heart in thrall
so fill me to the porting glass goodnight and joy be with you all.

My father in law just passed last week from liver cancer. Robbed the man of
his retirement years. I wrote this tribute to him, perhaps it fits for your
loss as well. May this bring some peace to you and yours..........

He left the roomŠŠŠŠ

Just today, one of the best guys in the room just left. My father in-law.
Those that were lucky enough to be in the room the same time as him got to
see and experience his incredible sense of humor, charity, compassion,
generosity, love, wit & moxie. Quite the guy he was! He did not just take
up space you see. He took an authoritative position many times, standing by
the door so that no harm could enter. He took every opportunity to teach and
share guidance to those of us building new rooms for future generations. He
shuffled, skipped & danced about and we all loved his presence, which was a
present itself.

But, he had to leave the room. He now takes his new position. His
position reinforcing the foundation with all the generations that came
before him. Our building is so much stronger now that he is there holding
his special place in our hearts, deep in our foundation. He did not leave
us altogether, he just changed positions in the building, the building we
call life.

Yes, he left the room, but he did not leave the building.

My sympathies of course. Like others here I'm sure, I've been down that
path myself, so I resonate with your feelings now.

That was great. Alert is/was a good thing. He let you have time to talk with
him for a few more minutes.

At the memorial service for my Great Aunt a few years ago, instead of dwelling
on her death, we celebrated her life. It was a full life, alert to the end of
her 105 years and almost 11 months. Instead of feeling depressed and mourning
(yes the mourning was necessary) the service with anecdotes from many family
members left us with an up-beat feeling, thus we were more able to continue with
our own lives.

Peace to you and yours,

BOB

My sincere condolences George. I envy your love for you dad. I
didn't have that to carry on after my dad's death in 1967.

==============================================

Chef Juke...

If I had your E-mail address I would have sent you a private note, but this
one will have to do. Your Dad raised a right fine son, judging from your
message to this newsgroup, and that means that he was certainly a right fine
Dad. I am happy for your good fortune in having so fine a Dad, and I will
bet that he also said "Everybody eats when they come to my house!"

If it is any comfort at all to you, Chef Juke, I have worked in the hospital
field since 1948 (and still do) and I can state that there are times when a
person is ready to "go" and then goes. For them it is likely a blessing,
while for those of us left here on earth, it is sadness. For your sadness,
I offer you no real consolation, but for the goodness your Dad brought to
you and to all of us, I want to share some thanks.

With my best wishes,
Gus Kilthau

My deepest condolences, Chef. My Dad passed away in '53. We talked, he
closed his eyes . . . and was gone. I was 17 and never really got to know
him. Remember the good times.
