Hi Janet! Great to see a useful post for a change.

Thanks a million for the "heads up". I will be buying some without a
doubt.

And back at 'cha, I was in the .99 only store by the house and they
have monster jalapenos 3+ pounds for a buck. These are big boys,
averaging about 3 1/2" and longer and about 1 1/2" across. PERFECT
for stuffing and smoking.

I always buy plenty when they are on sale and smoke them dry to use in
soups, sauces, dips, salsa, etc. I was delighted at over 6# for $2,
so I will be going back as soon as I process these.

Good to see you here again.

Robert

Very true. The straighter, the fatter, easier to clean out and more to
enjoy !!!!!

One of these days, I will find something in MN that is way cheaper here
then in TX or other parts of the country. In the mean time, I am envious...

Add some other peppers to the mix to. I typically use Jalapeño, Serrano
and Habanero peppers for my mix. Occasionally, I add a couple different
larger sized peppers, just for kicks.

I had my pic taken at the fair by Wahl, makers of hair/mustache
trimmers. This link should take you to a pic of me wearing sunglasses.
You can vote for me once each day, until some time in October. I can
win a 42 inch TV or an MP3 Player.

You may have to register a user name, which can be an e-mail address.
You can use an e-mail address you no longer check. And you can use a

Habaneros are too much for me. Too much fire, not enough taste. I do
like serranos, though. They make excellent salsa and ranchero sauce
for my eggs, but also taste really great just raw and fresh with a
morning taco.

And those extra sized japs.... they beg to be cut in half, stripped
out and filled with cream cheese based seafood dip, or any other mix
of cheeses, shrimp, wrapped or unwrapped with bacon and smoked.

The heavy rains we have this time of year usually make the peppers
oversized as they wouldn't normally get enough water to grow that
large. As it is, the fields flood and the peppers cannot be harvested
until they are king sized.

We will have the other peppers in soon, but they won't be as large
since they don't grow as quickly. I used to grow peppers in my
garden, but they are so cheap to buy around here they just aren't
worth the trouble.

And now (thanks again, Janet!) we have pork pork butts for less than
brisket! Gonna be a good bbq season.
