We just recently had a Smoky Bones open up about an hour away from us.
What can anyone tell us about this chain? Are they any good? |

You should be able to make better Q than them on your second or third try. --THC ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tom Cormen Voice: (603) 646-2417 Professor of Computer Science Fax: (603) 646-1672 Chair, Writing Program Email: Dartmouth College URL: http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~thc/ 6211 Sudikoff Laboratory Hanover, NH 03755-3510 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Definately agree with the general consensus... I've had the Brisket at
the Albany, NY location and I won't be going back. My first attempt at Brisket on a $40 electric water smoker was better. |

This is the parent company of Red Lobster, Bahama Breeze and Olive Garden. IMHO, Bahama Breeze does a decent job with their watered down Caribbean vibe and food. The others though? To answer the last question, I'll put it like this....If you think Olive Garden is great Italian and Red Lobster is a seafood feast, then you will probably love Smoky Bones. Otherwise, you may just want to fire up the pit and then head to Smoky Bones for a cold beer or get a bag of their donut holes for dessert. |

Sure home made is better (depends on who's home, though) and there are a lot
of better non-chain Q's, but it's an acceptable lunch or dinner if you're headed down an Interstate and you see a Smoky Bones. I've been to a couple of them and they're fine for what they a a big chain. > wrote in message oups.com... > We just recently had a Smoky Bones open up about an hour away from us. > What can anyone tell us about this chain? We had a Red Lobster up here on the New Hampshire border. The place
converted into a Smokey Bones after many complaints about the lobsterfest. I always though the best thing about 'em was the biscuits. These guys can't hold a proper lobster lover's bait. Anyway, 'Bones is good for a snack and a cold draftie while you're waiting for your own. I went there onece for some pulled pork. The stuff tasted like stovetop with a good dose of liquid smoke tossed in at the end. |

I was thrown out of a Red Lobster in Toronto when after arguing with the manager about the freshness of his display, I told him in front of the line-up to get in that "fresh fish doesn't smell like a French whorehouse". > > -- > Matthew > > I'm a contractor. I can tell you that I am giving away a $20.00 gift certificate to Smokey
Bones just by registering on my website and posting some reviews. Once this has been done, you will be entered into the drawing! Only one winner. Good luck! PS . . . Smokey bones if generally a good place to go and have some good Q, drink some goood beer and watch some sports games. Their ribs are very good as is their chicken. I like the brisqit and sausage too! Ohh yah, pulled pork sandwich roll is good. It really all depends on the location. I have eaten at 4 different locations and they are not all consistent. But, normally very enjoyable. Get the fresh hot donuts for desert. > wrote in message oups.com... > We just recently had a Smoky Bones open up about an hour away from us. > What can anyone tell us about this chain? The ribs are pretty good, but the brisket resembled half cooked, thick
sliced bacon. They did admit brisket is not their strong point. I offered to smoke a brisket and bring it to the manager so he would know what it's supposed to look like. > wrote in message oups.com... > We just recently had a Smoky Bones open up about an hour away from us. > What can anyone tell us about this chain? Nevermind the store manager James.... you should trot one of your own
out to the corporate offices. They are the boneheads calling the shots. With any luck, they might even offer you a position....... |
