Hello all,
I own a ten-year old gas grill. I had the propane cylinder refueled and when I returned home and connected it to the regulator, all sorts of problems began: gas leakage at the cylinder head and regulator freeze-up. I returned the cylinder to the fill station believing that it had perhaps been overfilled. The attendant noted that the cylinder was ten years old and suggested I buy a new one, which I did. I went back to the same fill station with the new empty cylinder, had it filled but the regulator freeze-up problem reoccurred albeit not as much. No gas leakage but frost formation on the regulator and hose. I replaced the regulator with a new one... same problem. I then concluded that the problem must be with the burners themselves which I also replaced. The problem persists with a bit of burner flutter. I live in Montreal and hot weather is not the issue. The temperature yesterday was ± 70 F (20 C). So, new parts a gas cylinder (not equipped with the overfill protection device), regulator assembly with single hose, and the burner assembly including two venturis. Conclusion: is the culprit the propane gas itself? Is it possible that the fill station's propane gas is causing a problem or am I overlooking something? Having owned two diesel powered automobiles, I was often warned to purchase fuel only from a busy station because there exists the risk of water build-up in old diesel fuel. Is this an issue with propane? Many thanks for your help! |

whats the humidity at your location yesterday?
gas expands and cools lines when it goes thru regulators. this is normal. on a high humidity day it will be noted as frost. did you use the grill? it probably worked fine? i doubt anything in the gas could cause outside frost beyond what normall occurs. |

I think the humidity dropped so you dont see the frost.
A bug or clog will obstruct the flow, no or little heat, lower flow less chance or frost on lines on a brite note you have now serviced the entire grill, thats always a good idea |
