Well, considering how the construction of ___cide in English puts the
person/thing being killed in the front (homocide = killing of a human,
matricide = killing one's mother, fratricide = killing one's brother or,
more commonly, one's countryman), it's not a very good name, as you're
killing the hops. Which wouldn't make for a very good IPA.

Yes, well...I did kind of train-wreck myself there didn't I...Got caught up
in the word play and not the meaning...

Unless...I'm killin' the hops with my stomach acid!!! ok...I'll stop now...

I did name a few a few years back, at the local micro... One was called
Tipsy-Turvy, for instance.

My "Male Ale"-series has so far produced No Doubt Stout and will soon
be joined by Swine Barley Wine and Dirish Irish Stout.

The name needs to sound good on the lips and people will have to stop
and think about it, like in the case of Delirium Tremens mentioned
below. Other examples include Bitter & Twisted, Hard Rock (the
heavier version of Rock) or Nils Oscar God Lager*.

I was going to add Cole Porter, but I saw that somebody (I forget who) already
bottles Coal Porter.

How about bottling a Large singer in a bottle with that then it
could be a Fat King Cole Porter- Or Stout with Musical Clout.

That's pretty good. Or, if you were trying to be edgy, you coul call it
"Mad Porter" with a logo of a hotel bag man with an axe. Or "Insane
Stout" with a picture of a midget with a chainsaw.

My favoritely named beer was in a local brewpub. They had an Amber Ale
they called Abigail Adams Amber, or "3A" for short. The brewpub was
located on Route 3A in Quincy, MA.

(And for those of you not up on your American History, Quincy, MA is
named for President John Quincy Adams, and his mother was Abigail.)

For those of you not up on your American History,
Quincy, Massachusetts was named for Colonel John
Quincy, and Abigail Adams was his graddaughter.

Her son John Quincy Adams was also named for John
Quincy, who died a few days after John Quincy Adams
was born. JAQ became the sixth president of the US.
