When I am going for cheap I will get Yuengling or Rolling Rock. Are
there any other beers in that range I should consider? |

Cheap beers I've been drinking lately: JW Dundee's Pale Bock - $5.99 a six pack and really great stuff. Bridgeport IPA - $6.50 a sixer. _Randal |

Those certainly don't sound cheap, since they are advertised to death, and what are you talking, Kegs? Now cheap to me is a 30 pack for $12. I often buy Genesee and Milwaukees Best for that price. With the Genny rebate its often $8 for a 30 pack. You can't buy 6 packs in PA. You have to buy the whole case so you really get drunk. greg |

Most of us here (I think) prefer to drink a beer for its quality rather
than its price. Save the cheap beer for friends you're trying to get rid of... Scott Steve Johnsenson wrote: > When I am going for cheap I will get Yuengling or Rolling Rock. Are > there any other beers in that range I should consider? > |

Paulaner, Weihenstephaner. Many good lagers out there as well. Polish, Estonian and Czech stuff tend to be quite cheap and especially the dark Czech is worth it's price. In pubs Guinness is usually cheap, or at least the same price as local stuff. The English real ales are usually cheaper than you'd think, once you find them. Marcus |

I've been getting Pilsner Urquell for about $6.50-7.00, which I like a lot. If you like Wheats, Pyrimid and Blue Moon are about the same price, and not bad, although not good session brews IMO. If you like Mexican beers, Negra Modelo, and Modelo Especial are pretty good. We have a local brand, Ruhr, which makes a really good Blond for about $6. Larry T |

One from a local brewery (Leinenkugels, Chippewa Falls, WI) called
Sunset Wheat is pretty darn tasty...a hint of orange... Scott LT wrote: > When I am going for cheap I will get Yuengling or Rolling Rock. Brewed from the waters of the Big Eddie. I tried the Oct Feast, which was okay.. I'll give that Wheat a try if I see it around. Larry T |

I actually really like the Sunset wheat. I'm not claiming it to be a
"to die for beer", but it is nice on a sunny summer or fall afternoon to sit in the yard and have a few "pops" ![]() Not sure which waters are the "Big Eddie"...Leinies is on the Chippewa River.....minor details ![]() Scott LT wrote: >>One from a local brewery (Leinenkugels, Chippewa Falls, WI) called >>Sunset Wheat is pretty darn tasty...a hint of orange... > > > > I see you're a Wisconsin boy... Kind of a keep sake left over from an ice fishing excursion a bunch of us Chicago boys made to northern Wisconsin one fine January many moons ago. As I recall, it proclaimed "Brewed from the waters of the Big Eddie Spring" Maybe that's dried up now... Larry T |

Oh, maybe that IS it. I'll actually have to read a bottle!
![]() I probably should know that...I've taken their tour (but probably had the free beer at the end of the tour on my mind!) Scott LT wrote: >>I actually really like the Sunset wheat. Sounds like normal pricing to me. Cheapest beer I've had in a while was a 0,5L bottle of quite good dark Czech lager for 35 cents (granted, Eurocents, so figure 42 cents US, if you must) at a local Norma shop: http://www.lobkowicz.cz/baron2.html May go back and pick up a case. Best possibility for cheap beer tonight will be at the Löwebräu Keller in Buttenheim from 19.00-20.00, when the seasonal Bockbier will be "angestochen" and available for EUR 1 per Seidla. (And that's "Seidla" in the fränkisch sense, not in the Austrian one, ergo 1/2 L.) Eh, may have to bother with heading up there. |

For Leinies I realy like the honeyweis. It is my everyday fridge beer. The
Leinie red is also a good choice. About $11.00 per 12pk here in minnesota.
