Has anyone heard of an Australian drink called a Shanty? It's half
beer and half 7up. Seems like a waste of beer.

Probably short for "shandygaff," the name I've heard. Can also be
made with ginger ale.

I could be a ladies drink, much like Black velvets in Scotland. IIRC a
Black Velvet is half hard cider and half Guiness Stout or maybe any
other stout that's available. I tried it once but I prefer my stout to
be straight. YMMV.
