Does anyone know where to obtain Unibroue beers in the United States.
They are brewed in Quebec Canada and are truly amazing.

Several places. I've seen them in the Midwest, on the East Coast, on the
West Coast. I can't think of many areas they aren't available.

However, I know nothing about the market in South Carolina. Many southern
states have silly restrictions on beer, disallowing beers above a certain
alcohol level to be sold, and Unibroue beers tend to be pretty well up
there.

I usually get them at Beverages & More or at Whole Foods Market. If you're
in California,
www.bevmo.com can ship it to your door. Where in the States
are you?

The Unibroue web site has a distributor list:

Try contacting your local distributor for a retailer list.

It would help if you mentioned where in the United States you are
located. For instance, I drink the Unibroue products at The Sharp Edge in
Pittsburgh PA. That doesn't help you if you live in California.

I've seen them in VA, MD, DC, IA, and FL at minimum, and those are just
the places I tend to regularly be. They're pretty readily available.

Near Greenville, SC is a reasonable guess. ;-)

I can usually find them at Downtown Liquors in Sommerville, MA, and
Franklin St. Beer & Wine sometimes has them.

The fresher, the better.

I dunno. Some I've had fresh have seemed liked a muddy jumble
of flavors (what's that strong dark one... Trois Pistoles?. Age
seemed to help that one, at least.

Yes. Fortunately, the USA is a very small country, so you should be
able to find them where I find them.

True, and one of the bonuses of living in a small country like the
USA is that it's a short drive to Canada. I can be in one of Canada's
largest cities in less than 150 minutes, for instance, and I can
buy Unibroue beers there, too.

Unibroue is widely available in the good old US of ****in'
A. I could get it in Houston, and it's available in the DC
area.

I like virtually all of their offerings, but I'm still
waiting for them to put out something orgasmic.

They offer things like "10" and "Terrible" and "MonSacreBlue" in the huge
bottles. Actually, I think most of those cites are wrong--I can't
remember. But in any case, their special bottlings can be fab, if
overpriced. Their regular product is absolutely fabulous, until you get
used to it. Then you don't buy it any more, and instead look for Belgian
styles that have some hops.

I've had "10" and "Terrible" but not in huge bottles, only
in 750ml bottles.

Finding a Belgian beer that emphisize hops is like finding
weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, with the exception that
a small percentage of Belgian beers can be described as
hoppy.

Hmmm, there's more hoppy beers than WMD in Iraq... think Orval, think
everything by de Ranke, think Hommelbier, think Duvel, even !

And Piraat is a favorite. I also really like Bell's Sparking Ale, which
has the champagne brightness of Duvel, and a great hops kick to boot.

Yes, that was my point. But I'll repeat that a small
percentage of Belgian beers can be described as hoppy. And
Orval and Duvel are marginal candidates.

Piraat hoppy? I guess this is a game of semantics since I
distinguish "hoppy" from "containing evidence of hops."

Bruce, remember the Belgians don't see too many IPA's hopped to
US levels, so the standard is not the way we think of it there.
To help remedy that, I'm taking Mash Hash Hoppy Hour IPA, Three
Floyd's Alpha King, as well as fresh Bigfoot, Storm King and Old
Horizontal across the pond tomorrow.
Call it a Cultural Exchange. Chuck C.
