Look for a German reprint of a very old book called "Der vollkommene
Bierbrauer oder kurzer Unterricht alle Arten Biere zu brauen."
Original edition appeared in 1784. It even mentions Leipziger Gose,
a style which has been revived in eastern Germany.

Readily available "off the shelf" :

There's a nice little booklet by the Durden Park Beer Circle called "Old
British Beers and How To Make Them", which has quite a few. So have
Roger Protz and Clive La Pensée's "Homebrew Classics" books on
Porter/Stout and IPAs. You can get them through teh CAMRA website
(http://www.camra.org.uk)

But if you're serious about historical beer recipes, I assume you've
already got those....

Cheers !

Laurent
