Hey folks,
last night i had a pint of 2004 SN celebration ale at Toronado in SF; was not as malty as i remember it in years past, and is quite hoppy, with a strong hop aroma(nice and fresh). Looking foward to the bottles.... mikron |

I did chat a bit with one of the brewery folks at their GABF booth, where I had been hoping for an SNCA preview. He said it'd be a couple weeks. I picked up a few seasonals yesterday, which are showing up on the shelves up here in the Emerald City. Bridgeport, Deschutes, Alaskan, Full Sail... I'm beginning to think we've all got collective amnesia and the thing never was malty but just a bracingly hoppy beer that had enough malt going on not to wither in the presence of so many hops. I've always scoffed at the seemingly annual reports that SNCA has changed
(usually for the worse) and maintained that it has always been a "bracingly hoppy beer that had enough malt going on not to wither in the presence of so many hops." Yet after my first sip of 04 SNCA a couple days ago my initial thought was "damn this is a lot more hoppy this year" OBMidwesternbeer: Three Floyd's makes some FG beer. I just finished the last of the Alpha Kings that I brought back from Chicago and I'm already wishing for more. mike |

I really felt that 03 was more bitter (not necessarily less malty!) than those previous years. It seemed to me that maybe they were trying to keep up with the double IPA trend so they upped the IBUs. Haven't yet tried the 04. |
