Does any one have stomach problems from chocolate?

I have trouble eating as much chocolate as in a Hershey's kiss - severe
gasto-intestinal symptoms. Does any one else have this problem and
have you found a cause or a solution?

You may be alergic to wheat or glutten. Try another chocolate.

Thanks but that's not it, I've tried several different brands and types
of choc. It seems to be any type of chocolate. Plus cheddar cheese.
Weird.

Milk chocolate has dairy in it, as does cheese, of course. How do you
react to other dairy products or to semi-or bittersweet chocolate?

I'm ok for all other dairy.

This plus your comment cheddar cheese suggests lactose intolerance. I
do note that you say other dairy haven't given you a problem to the best of
your knowledge, but it could be about densities and/or lack of water in
conjunction with the lactose. As another poster mentions, what is your
reaction to dark chocolate? The darker the better. Note also that a fair
number of dark chocolates also contain lactose and/or other dairy products
so be sure to look at the ingredient label and verify that there are no
milk-derived products among them.

All this being said, I'm not a doctor. The best thing, if this really is
cause for concern, is to see a doctor and get a professional opinion.

As I understand it, it is possible to be allergic to nearly everything
(except sugar, I think it is). I suppose you could be allergic to a
particular enzyme that is common to both chocolate and cheddar cheese.
