I had coffee at a friend's house recently, which was prepared with a
French Press. I really enjoyed the flavour of the coffee, so I'm
thinking about getting one. However, it looked like a pain to clean
compared to my coffee maker that uses a filter, which I can just pull
out and trash. I saw her digging "mud" out of the bottom of the press
to throw in the trash because she didn't want her grinds going down the
sink drain. So, I am wondering: 1. How do others clean their press?
2. Do you think it's a pain to clean? Thanks for any tips!

Better yet, dump spent grounds in compost. Many plants love it.

yea I was gonna say just that, Take your grounds and put them in the
flower bed and they will also love you for it.

French presses are actually easier to clean than drip coffee makers, as was
posting... Bump against the trash can, in go 80% of the grounds the rest
get rinsed out in the sink. For that matter you can just rinse the whole
thing out in the sink and flush all the grounds down the drain (so long as
you run plenty of water along with them as they go so they don't gather and
clog up a elbow in the plumbing).

Not to mention the taste of the coffee is so much better as well.

You obviously don't have a septic tank.
