Having received my Emeril 12€ skillet, I realize that a 12€ skillet is
the measurement across the top, and this skillet measures 8-1/2€ at the base. On my range( which has a set of triple elements which are 6, 9 and 12€) Emerils 12€ pan, which has a base measurement of 8-1/2€ fits the 9€ element. What I am using mainly now in stainless steel: 5.5€ base skillet is identified as a 8.5€ skillet. (which will fit my 6€ element) 7€ base skillet is identified as a 10€ skillet. (which fits my 6 or 9€ element) and I am still left looking for a skillet which fits the 12€ element. I have been seeing some 14€ occasionally. The Emeril ss skillet I have purchased is larger than the ones I own listed above (as you can see). I do like the handle because it has a thumb print, and I wanted this pan for frittatas/frittatas, and it is the same weight as my 10€ skillet above, (I weighed it on kitchen scales) so this €œcould€ be a plus as far as weight handling goes while cooking, but I am not sure as to how much difference it will make in cooking (frittatas, to be exact ïŠ). ups.com... Having received my Emeril 12" skillet, I realize that a 12" skillet is the measurement across the top, and this skillet measures 8-1/2" at the base. I've noticed that the pans with straight sides, called saute pans, have the same measurement across the top and the base. Skillets usually have flared sides. Sharon |

I believe most of the difference in the lip for the lid, and the way that the pan is molded, it sort of waves in a little at the top and then back out again for the lid. However, this saute pan is defined as a 3.5 qt. saute pan. I don't know whether saute pans are measured as a 10.5" saute pan -- but in this case, I would be disappointed if they had measured it as 10.5, when acutally it was 8.5. Thanks for your reply, Sharon. Dee |

Dee, you seem to have your news posting program set to something other than plain text, so it's encoding the double quotes, leading to a display like one of the above that is quite hard to read. -- Larry |

Hmmm, neither do I at home. Maybe the Exchange boys at work have been screwing around again.... sigh. Never mind, Dee. Sorry for the false alarm. -- Larry |
