What would be the ideal pot for two people, an 8 or a 12 qt.

Thanks Dig

I would go for twelve....you can prepare what you want for two...but,
you can't have ten over for chili.

Calphalon 8-quart (or bigger) stockpot, with lid. Simmer soup or cook
a big batch of tomato sauce in this sturdy, nonreactive stockpot. It
will do double-duty for boiling pasta and steaming vegetables, too.

There are two of us. I have a 6, an 8 and a 10-quart. Just one
comment: I am short and cleaning the 10-quart at the sink gives me
handling problems, lifting it up and moving it back and forth and upside
down. I'd enlist my husband to scrub the 12-quart if we had one and he
often helps with the 10-quart.

Thanks, I've decided to go with the 12 qt.

Goodness, you could never fit two people in a 12-quart pot!

Water weighs about 8 lbs/gallon, and so does "people". Assuming 240 lbs
of human, and about that much water, you'd need at least 60 gallons,
or 240 quarts. I'd say 300 quarts to be safe.

Are any particular vegetables de rigueur?

How about wine? No, I mean in the pot.

Here, Ward, take your chill pill. Then hone your irony detector.
Donald was just teasing about the OP's sentence structure, which
technically was ambiguous, and I a) understood he was joking and b)
thought his post was funny! If anyone needs to go to middle school,
seems like that person ought to be you, not Donald, who demonstrated
mastery of the English language in his post.
