Never (never say never) thought I'd purchase another Le Creuset pan/
pot because of previous luck, but here I am again; price was good enough to try it. Ordered online. I just received this pan, here are some pics. What do you think? Is it a return? Or a keeper? http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=34zlfdi&s=4 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=iqvpde&s=4 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=32zv154&s=4 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=116mcr4&s=4 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2ntai6f&s=4 shows inside on pot. I've seen very large Le Creusets with chips larger than that sell of eBay for only $20 or so less than perfect, new items. Return, if you paid anywhere near normal retail for it. If you got a really good buy, then only you can evaluate that tradeoff -- unless you want to tell us the size and what you paid. 8 ![]() -- Larry |

Since I ordered it last weekend, it is out-of-stock, so it is not shown. No lid comes with it. The price was right for me to try it, but I don't think it was a 'big bargain.' Rhyme: It is 12 inches across and 2-1/2 inches high, and It caught my eye. What will I use it for? Well, that remains to be seen :-)) Thanks for letting me know that it is not dangerous -- I bought some time ago a larger Batali pot that had the same sort of chip, maybe a little larger, but it was did not have color enamel surrounding it. I decided to keep it; probably will keep this one, too. P.S. I do like the enamel on the Batali (Copco) better than this Le Creuset. Dee Dee |

If you don't want it, I'll offer you the $80 plus shipping to Alexandria. 8 ![]() I would think that for the $80, you could get a perfect 5 to 6 quart Batali or Rachel Ray cast iron casserole at Bed Bath & Beyond or similar... -- Larry |

DH just purchased two boxes of Trader Joe's arborio last week -- I hope it is good. "Chance ou coincidence". Thanks for the suggestion! Dee Dee |

With lid. Rims were machined. Quality as good as Creuset, I have Creuset. |

I went to Costco today and I had to admit that I was 'thinking about it.' I know it's silly, but I was thinking about that red drippy part on the inside of the pan. Just a drip, mind you, but still ---- I recall many years ago writing some famous congressman, deceased now, about cadmium paint when 'they' were outlawing it. This pan is short in depth, and although I know that I won't be cooking that hot in the pan, it makes me think about how comfortable I will be each time I will/would stir into that area, thinking: Fiesta dishes that were red; cadmium, cadmium, cadmium. Being made in France makes me more comfortable; however, nowadays, who knows where the enamel properties were purchased before they were adhered to in France. I was very curious about the enamel-type in this pan, as the one remaining Le Creuset pan I own (not a part of my destroyed Gang of Three), is of the type that I really like; i.e., the white enamel that looks and feels as if it is hard as stone that I bought perhaps 30 or more years ago. It is what I call a 'fish' oval pan because that's what I generally bake in it, and it has little fin-looking handles on the end. I owned a yellow pot of that type and a turquoise pan with a spout and a wooden handle. Now, that Le Creuset type of enamel must have gone by the wayside many a moon ago. This newly acquired bistro pan is of the type which I refer to as glass/sand enamel and which did not stand up to 'my style of cooking ;-)) I guess I'm just dreaming of days gone by, wanting the white type. Thanks for your input, Wayne. Dee Dee |

I might add, all still in perfect condition. I also have the same oval pan with the little fin-looking handles. I haven't looked at any of the current Le Creuset pieces. I definitely don't need any more cookware. :-) However, I doubt the product is equal to what was made decades ago. Most of mine was acquired at cost or below cost from the company I worked for at the time. However, I bought an odd pan at Bloomingdale's in NYC back in the 1970s. As they were ringing up the sale, I noticed a slight blemish near the outside edge of the rim. When I pointed it out, they immediately got another one from stock that was perfect, adding that they were not allowed to sell any Le Creuset item with a flaw. It had to go back to Le Creuset. -- Date: Sunday, August 10th,2008 ******************************************* Countdown till Labor Day 3wks 4hrs ******************************************* There's no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast. ******************************************* |
