Default Those "Magic Bullet" blenders ???

Does anyone have experience with those "Magic Bullet" blenders, "as
shown on TV" <VBG>? I was given one as a Christmas gift, and I have
never used it. I'm not exactly keen about getting it out of the box to
try it out, but I would like to know if anyone "here" has used one and
what they thing about it. Is it worth the money?

Sky, who's curious

P.S. To me, it's just another gadget that duplicates other gadgets I
already have and use!!!

Is it worth the money you paid, yes. Is it worth the price it will sell
at numerous garage sales this summer? H### NO!!!!! Is it worth the
bother to try out? Only if you're really curious. I found them weak
and ineffective, cute but not cuddly.

Thanks for your reply. What you've described is what I've thought
about the gadget. Now I know for sure.

As I think they say in France (been 30+ years since my last French
class), "ne rien."

Well, there you have it -- absolute certainty from a sample size of
one. 8

My brother has the Bullett, and I have one of the department store
knock-offs ("Cooks"?). I find it really useful for the little chores
involved in cooking for two. Particularly for blending moist herbs and
such, that I wouldn't put in my spice grinder.

This is as opposed to the Cuisinart Mini-Pro processor, which I found
useless.

Ymmt, of course.

Thank you for your response also. I find it useful. As you mentioned,
a sample response of 'one' is limited. So I'm glad to get and combine
all the responses to make a better informed decision

You have it there, take it out of the box and make some smoothies, salsa
and omelets already! Do a You-Tube video and report back. :-)

Finally, someone who agrees with my opinion re the Cuisinart Mini, -- It
went to the thrift store pronto.
I can't imagine anyone thinking it's a good tool, but they do.

I've got a vintage Sunbeam Oskar that is down in that size range, but
couple key differences:

1) The bowl is globe-like in shape, and it tends to roll contents up and
over better.

2) The base is tall, and the slicer/shredder head sits high with a chute
that sends contents into a mixing bowl I set next to it. I use this
configuration 95% of the time*.

* 95% is just a human guess, since I don't use a stop watch to time
exact usage and culculate time ratios to tenth of a second precisions.

There is something about older engineering on many things in my kitchen
that newer toys seem to fall short on.
