Who has one? What kind? Like it? Any downside?
I find I'm making them often and am not sure how much good all those ice cubes are doing my blender blade, and am wondering if a regulation smoothie machine will consistently produce something like a Slushee. Or are my expectations off? TIA. -- Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ Holy Order of the Sacred Sisters of St. Pectina of Jella "Always in a jam, never in a stew; sometimes in a pickle." I have posted here before that I use a Vita Mix. Bestest thing for perfect smoothies of any kind..... |

And about 15 times more expensive than interests me, too. :-) Thanks, though, for the thought. -- Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ Holy Order of the Sacred Sisters of St. Pectina of Jella "Always in a jam, never in a stew; sometimes in a pickle." Keep your eye out at yard and garage sales or have friends who like to go to them keep an eye out for you. YOu can also find them in the paper or eBay or Craigs list sometimes too. Nothing will do a better job an be used for many other things as well. I use mine every day. |

He'd find it and then charge me $250 instead of $375. <grin> -- Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ Holy Order of the Sacred Sisters of St. Pectina of Jella "Always in a jam, never in a stew; sometimes in a pickle." But it was frozen at the top and loose on the bottom where the spigot is. I did forward and reverse. |

Mine doesn't have a spigot. It completely liquifies the entire container full of ice and ingredients for a daquiri in about 10 seconds flat and there is no difference in the liquifaction anywhere in the whole thing. Mine is 2 hp.....what is yours? Mine also came with the 'tamper' to use to move ingredients around if you need to. |

TIA. I usually use a frozen banana or two and very cold ingredients. The banana is enough to freeze it. If I was making them frequently using ice, I think I'd buy a bag of crushed ice to use. A Kitchenaid blender can handle ice cubes, but it doesn't chop them up very well. Actually it doesn't do anything very well because of the "soft start" motor. It's going to be tough to produce anything with the consistency of a Squishee™, no matter what you use. Maybe a bar blender would work. Bob |

I don't put in ice cubes. I toss the ingreeds into the blender, then pour the product over a few ice cubes. (I still think I need an immersion blender tho for this for easier cleanup.) |
