The igniter on our Jenn-Air range conventional burners hasn't working in a
while. I finally cleaned out the little holes on the burners that are used
by the igniter, and got it to work. It does take about 5 seconds (one-one
thousand, two-one thousand ...) of clicking for the burners to light.

It's been so long since the igniter worked, I don't remember if this is
normal or slower than usual. If it's slow, is it dangerous, having 5
seconds of unignited gas flowing out of the burner?

BTW - the electric self-cleaning convection oven is great - the gas burners
and grill and downdraft: lousy. I don't know if it's J-A in particular or
downdraft in general, but get a hood.

Is it an igniter problem, i.e., no spark, or a problem with the burners. I
have had both issues with mine. I replaced the igniter on the grill side
after it broke. The burners have also had problems. The front burner is
always fine. The rear burner is touchy. I have had to unclog the small
holes near the base to get it to work. Even on a good day it takes at least
5 seconds to light. The most reliable way that I have found to get it to
light is to light the front burner, bridge the two burners with a pan, and
open the gas valve on the rear burner. This seems to work faster than
trying to get it to ignite with the igniter. JennAir is such crap.
