Default DCS, Jenn-Air, GE Monogram?

As I have researched various pro-style gas and duel fuel ranges I am
circling in on purchasing a DCS range. I understand that DCS was
recently purchased by Fisher-Paykel, and that Jenn-Air and GE Monogram
ranges are made by DCS. Some questions:

(1) What are the key differences between DCS, Jenn-Air, and the GE
Monogram pro-style ranges, if they are all made by DCS?

(2) Does anyone know if Jenn-Air and GE Monogram will continue to be
made by DCS after the acquisition by Fisher-Paykel?

(3) Part of what makes DCS appealing is that it offers a nice low
simmer without having to use a simmer plate like Dacor or the on-off
technique Thermador uses. Do Jenn-Air and GE Monogram ranges have the
same qualities as the DCS ranges?

Thanks,
Irene

Our Jenn-Air downdraft gas range with a grill is lousy:

- the downdraft is better at sucking heat away from the regular burners than
clearing smoke and splattered oil
- you need to clean the burner ignitor holes every week, unless you want to
use a match to light the burners
- the grill gets medium-hot at best, after a good long warm up
- the grill grates quickly show signs of wear

The electric convection oven is terrific, though.

We have a 48" DCS w/ six burners and the grill. The igniter on the grill
about a $125. I'm getting ready to install the third one in as many years.
The first replacement was under warranty the second I installed myself. It
has now died and since winter is upon us I guess I'll be doing it again
soon.

The service from DCS is virtually nonexistent. Calling in or emails are
wastes of time. Maybe be being purchased will help in this regard.

I have personally talked about a dozen people out of DCS's. Everyone I know
w/ a Blue Star is very happy. I could not recommend the DCS from either a
quality or service stand point.

We have a 36 DCS with the grill in the center .
DCS hood over the top for two years.
We love the thing ...best cook top ever in 50 years of heavy cooking..

Zero problems with the grill or great dual temp burners...all four are real
hot or real low and great for
All size heavy duty pans.

had a hood switch and motor problem the first few weeks and got Great
service and fast repair and replacement
under warranty. Even had a tech support guy on the phone work with me and
the dealer to solve the issue.

I will buy another in a heart beat when we build the next place in a year or
so.

My son bought the Jenn air and hates it ......low heat ,,, bad grill temps
and burner temps.

Never used a GE but sure do love the DCS.

I have a Chef restaurant owner friend and he uses the DCS in his own home
and loves it also.

Only issue would be they are not real easy to clean when used heavy duty
like we do but then
its not a betty Crocker kitchen here.

Good luck have fun .....Jim

Hi,

I've had a 30" Monogram for about a month now and I love it. It has a
2-tier burner (one above the other). The lower flame is for very
low/simmer low to medium, and the upper one is used to convert iron
into steel.

The electric over heats quick;ly and the convestion feature is nice. I
was initially unsure of the electric broiler, but the element has a
bunch of passes and seems to broil evenly, hot and over a large area.

I have heard the horror stories about trying to get GE service, but at
least there is a GE service guy virtually everywhere. Also, I bought
the 5-year in homne warranty just to be safe.

I really can't compare to any other brands in servcice, but the
overall feel is that this is a high quality appliance made of robust
material. It weighed in at about 400 pounds, so there is a lot of
metal somewhere.

Would I buy another? you bet!
