You might try Dawn Power Dissolver on the range. I use oven cleaner on mine to remove difficult stains. If you use oven cleaner, be sure to test an area first. It should work fine on cast iron, stainless, and porcelain coated metal. It will ruin aluminum and painted surfaces. |

Anyone care to recommend a good way to clean a dirty stove top? The areas
around the burners in my apartment have this brown stuff that I can't seem to remove, even with Soft Scrub or scouring powder. Along the same lines, I have some stainless steel pots and pans that I'd like to make the bottom look like stainless again. Any suggestions? Regards, H. |

I will try that Dawn stuff next time I get to the store, though. I fear oven cleaner may be the next step. It's enamel coated steel, so it shouldn't hurt it. Thanks for the suggestions! H. |

For porcelain coated drip pans that are removable, I put them in a garbage bag, spray with oven cleaner, and close the bag. After sitting all night, I remove them and rinse. For parts of the stove that aren't removable, I carefully spray them with oven cleaner, cover with plastic to prevent them from drying, and leave for several hours or over night. |
