I've had a Cuisinart Pro 14 since the 1980s, which has been a great food
processor. It's now time to replace the bowl, lid, and steel blade, which is going to cost somewhat over $100. I've seen recent ads for the new Hamilton Beach Big Mouth 14-cup food processor, but have found no reviews. It has a 450-watt motor and comes with steel blade, reversible shredding/slicing blade, and 6mm slicing blade. I can buy this for $69.95. Any opinions on the HB unit? I could really benefit from the lower price right now. TIA -- Wayne in Phoenix *If there's a nit to pick, some nitwit will pick it. *A mind is a terrible thing to lose. |

I have a Braun FP that I got going on 20 years ago. It has be great and the replacement bowls and other parts are cheap. I replaced the disk carrier last year for about $8. The lid costs about $12 and the bowls go for about $20 as I recall. I got several because I use mine frequently and there is always a bowl in the dishwasher. Mine is only 450 watts, but the new models start at 600. You can generally find them online for between $70 - $99. It is encouraging that that parts are still available after so long and that the unit still works like new. I really like the fact that it has a variable speed control. It allows you to match the speed to the job. You might consider a Braun. http://froogle.google.com/froogle?sc...Search+Froogle |

I have other Braun appliances that I'm very happy with. -- Wayne in Phoenix *If there's a nit to pick, some nitwit will pick it. *A mind is a terrible thing to lose. |
