Default Suggestions on first gas range

Hey all,

We are planning on buying a gas range and are open to any suggestions
as to what make and model is best.

We are looking for a model with dual ovens. We are still in the
process of doing our research, so dont flame us quite yet.

We know we want the dual ovens, and we were wondering what the
advantages are to having both the gas cooktop and oven vs gas cooktop
and having an electric oven. My wife has never used a gas oven.

dumb question. Do they make a dual oven model with one oven being
electric and the other gas???

We really could use any help and any suggestions that anyone might
have. This is going to be a relatively large investment due to the
fact that we have to have a gas tank installed as well.

Thanks in advance,

I don't think you will have much choice if you have to have two ovens.

I don't know if anyone would be 'flaming' you for a simple question...

Now ...I live in Sydney, Australia...I have always had a double Electric
Oven(and Plates)...The oven is now in excess of 32 yrs old and no longer
fully working...I have looked into the same question that you have posed
!...From all the info I can collect..(at least for here)..The most popular
combination is 'Electric' Oven's and Gas Hotplates (if you call them
Hotplates <g>..)...They appear to be the most popular...I have also 'used' 2
Gas Rings for some years now and a fully Electric Oven and Plates together
!...(I am a Widower , So I cook for myself and family)...I definitely want a
new Range with Gas tops and Electric Oven/ ovens....

In North America, if you want a range with two ovens, you will have
two basic choices. It depends mostly on whether you have more than 30"
space available for the range.

If you don't have more than 30", about your only choice is the Maytag
Gemini series, which has a "pizza-sized" oven on the top, below the
burners, and the larger oven closer to the floor. It comes in both
electric and gas versions, but the ovens are fueled the same as the
burners. No dual-fuels there.

If you can go to 40" or more, several companies make ranges with two
ovens, side by side -- one "normal-sized" and the other at least 10"
wide. You can get these from more-widely-available brands like Kenmore
(actually made by Electrolux, which markets similar ranges under their
Frigidaire brand), GE, and Whirlpool, and in more-expensive,
more-powerful models in lines like Wolf, Dacor, and others, all the
way up to AGA and LaCanche. Frankly, I don't spend a lot of time
shopping in that part of the store, so I don't know if some of those
offered are dual-fuel or even split among the ovens, but it's at least
a direction you can follow.

Frigidaire has an electric with a small bottom oven.

Another option would be to get a gas range with a single oven and a
countertop or over-the-range microwave convection oven. I guess it all
depends what the second oven will be used for. This combination widens the
choices for the primary oven and adds the benefit of a microwave/convection
oven.

La Canche do ranges that have 3 ovens, 2 electric and 1 gas but they
are pricey. In the UK they cost between =A33000 and =A37000 but are
reputed to be wonderful. They are semi professional type units.
