Default Viking/Thermador Range igniter

A Google search tells me the ingiter on Viking/Thermador gas ovens are a
frequent failure point. This item has failed on us twice in 5 years and
appears to be gone again.

Last time, the service tech showed me the part and said it's an owner
replaceable item. Thing is, I've forgotten where the part is and how to
tell if it's bad.

I've read that it's supposed to glow a certain color but not sure what
color is good and which is bad.

I've removed the kick panel but I'm not sure what the igniter looks
like. Can't find the service manual, if there ever was one.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

HK

I don't know enough to tell you what's what but I find that
RepairClinic.com has good diagrams and carries most parts for most
appliances. I know they have Viking and Thermador parts too. HTH

It's located next to the gas burner, at the end where the fuel come in.
There's also one up on the broiler if you have the infra red. In the oven
on my Viking you lift the bottom out of the oven to expose them. Unscrew it
and take it to any appliance shop. They usually just do a visual match up
with a wall chart.
Good idea to change them both at the same time.
I've also bought them (new) on eBay real cheap just to have one or two
spares laying around.
