My stick blender (an old, cheap one) has bit the big one. I want to replace
it, and am looking for recommendations. When I bought this one, I wanted to make sure that the blender-end would come off to be washed in the dishwasher (which was not such a common feature at the time). Otherwise, my uses are pretty general--pureeing soups and stew bases, etc. What's a good pick these days? |

I have a Braun and I love it. It comes with the blender, a chopper, a whisk and a beaker. The chopper is invaluable for small chopping jobs. All parts detach; the only part which can't be immersed is the "handle" part with the power in it. It's my favorite kitchen tool - cost me all of $14 on sale at Sam's Club. You can pay a lot more for the fancy names but I'm very happy with this one, which I've had for about 3 years. Dora |

Actually, I dropped it and now it sounds like hell. Costco has a $5 off coupon for a Braun stick blender. I think I'll use that and replace my old one. Hope the new Braun is as good as the old one. |

Variable speed and all the mentioned QC attachments. Great unit, made in Spain, not China IIR which surprised me. Pete C. |

Yes it is. I had to upgrade mine recently - it survived about 8 years of
good use. I got the one with all the attachments, with the stick blender in steel. It's great. I took the recommendation from a person on a newsgroup who really said not much about it, except that he liked it a lot. I bought it in spite of the fact that I read that fairs demonstrate it, but for the reason it is made in Switzerland. (Hoping it's made in Switzerland.) I've never handled it, but all the stick blenders are too big for my hand to get a grasp on, but DH said that he would use it for me, so this settled it. Hope I like it. Dee Dee |

My husband reckons Bamix are the best but since he doesn't do any of the
cooking his vote didn't count and I got the Braun! Nothing like a healthy democracy!
