Does anyone know if this has been discontinued? Has anyone used it?

My guess is that it is sold out at HSN.com I saw WP demonstrating the unit
about a month ago. I suspect that it sold out and they won't list it again
until it's back in stock. There is a Command Performance grill that looks
similar. It is probably a matter of "badge engineering" that distinguishes
the two brands. You can see it he

You can also see the WP model at this search:

I haven't used either one, but you can't expect too much in an appliance in
the $50 price range. I did think that it was larger and had a better design
than similar models like the George Forman grill.

I absolutely love my panini grill by Villaware.

Can you cook meat on it as well as pannini sandwiches? The one with
W. Puck showed him cooking a whole boned chicken on it.

I don't know if I could cook a whole boned chicken on it. A chicken is
pretty thick. But my panini certainly has a hinge to cook larger things
that a sandwich.

One of the reasons I like it versus another brand or two that I looked at
(can't remember what they were) but the groves between each other in mine
are closer together and deeper. It seemed to me to be more sturdy also.

I've seen panini grills that are bigger, but they cost $700+ and I wonder if
that is what Wolfgang might have been using for a whole chicken -- I don't
know -- just asking, perhaps ?? ----

Thanks - I don't know - the chicken he grilled was boned and
flattened. He cooked meats on it and got the dark looking "grilled"
marks and it looked very good. I think it has higher wattage than my
G. Foreman grill-I cooked a steak on it and it seemed "wimpy" compared
to what I saw on TV and did not make the searing type marks I like.

I don't plan on paying that much for a grill. I will wait and look at
a few kinds before I buy.

Tee hee -- I thought you meant a whole chicken -- not deboned -- ha ha!!

http://store.yahoo.net/everythinghome/villaware.html shows a picture of
what I have. It is substantial. I like the grill marks -- they are close
together as the picture shows.

I bought it at BJ's for $50 and thought it was Christmas!!! I think on-line
and in stores the lowest you can find it for is $80.

Krupps shows their panini grill on-line also, but I saw it in person and I
waited until I could see the Villaware, and I liked the looks and sturdiness
of the Villaware much better so I'm glad I waited. You should really take
your time to buy it.
