Default Tilia Food Saver, how much should I pay?

I was all set to pay $118 plus 7% sales tax for a Tilia Food Saver at the local
Sam's when someone posted in this group that he/she bought one for $90 at a
discounter.
How much are these things selling for?

Larger packages of meat can save a lot of money, depending on the price. I
use my foodsaver for that, but also for

- saving portions of cooked foods made in large batches, due to convenience
or recipe size.

- storing things like coffee beans, which deteriorate rapidly. (I use a
mason jar for coffee beans.) Sure you can buy a very small quantity every
few days, but it is nice to buy a week's worth at a time and not have to
visit that store for just that purpose so often.

- storing items that you use slowly over a longer period of time compared
with produce. For example, it takes me a while to go through a piece of
parmegianno cheese, since I don't use it every day.

I use my food saver quite often. I wish now I had known about the model that
cuts the bags for you. It would be worth the extra money.

You can buy an attachment that the unit sits in and it holds the bags
and cuts 'em. It's called the Foodsaver Center. I have it and it works
well. I can't find any links to it right now but you can contact

There have recently been quite a number of refurbished FoodSavers
available on Amazon. Prices have fluctuated, but I've seen the 300
(basic model, no tube attachment) for as low as $49.99. I ordered a
refurbished 500 for my parents which seals quite well, but the
refurbished 300 I bought for a friend occasionally has sealing issues
(it removes air just fine, but sometimes the heating strip shuts off
too soon - holding it down for a few more seconds after the light goes
out usually does the trick).
I use the FoodSaver exclusively for cheese and coffee, and I'd say
it's a great value. I've kept hard cheeses for over a year in the
refrigerator without spoiling... very nice when you like to haul
cheese back from Europe and then hoard it
