Hello.
I am asking the group for information or contacts for others who may have had similar problems (I refuse to believe that the following problems are affecting solely me). THis is all within 60 days time, by the way! Background. Purchased a floor model designer double oven (DEDO205) from Delia, the New England (and NY) regional distributor - which happens to be located right up the road from me. THey don't sell direct (or collect sales tax, etc) so they had us go to a local vendor/appliance store (who because they have been so wonderful through all this won't get their name sullied here.. they really have been very good). so, we had a cabinet made specifically for this oven (yes, they are all slightly different dimensions, ie; the wolf is 2" shorter and 1/2" wider, etc) but it did not work when installed. not just minor stuff... convection fan did not work and the cooling fan did not cool the oven in the cabinet - plus several other cosmetic issues). SO off we go to oven #2. Installed a few weeks later (after several more hours wasted with repair visits, etc). Oven #2. FOUR hours of install by experienced techs. the trim did not fit, the heat/cooling shields did not fit (and mamed the cabinet trim on the way in, etc). then, when finally shoe-horned into my square box (ever try to fit a round peg into a square hole?) the oven tripped the fuses (no such problem with oven #1 and it slid in and out very easily). it was drawing nearly 50amps on a 40amp circuitry. not good, to say the least. THis AFTER oven #2 was supposed to have passsed a "battery of tests" we could use one oven at a time in the interim. moved onto oven #3. they agreed to give us one out of the box. brand new. not a floor model. installed. and the clock did not work and the timer switch indicator was installed backwards and upsidedown (actually 90o off, so that is 1/4 turn upside down) and the dials and glass were broken out of the box). to boot, the cooling fans did not properly kick on when they were supposed to (the relay switches in the schematics indicate on/off at 115o for either oven and the fans both come on (via a re-routed wire to jump the other one on, if either relay gets hot). and only the top fan switch worked out of the box. again BAD BAD dangerous for the oven to get hot for so long after use and not get cooled properly. one week later.. bottom oven failed. convection fan goes on, but no bake or broil element. more failures. oven #4 gets installed Wednesday. I am already talking with attorneys for my costs and time and aggrevation, but I truly believe that this is endemic of a wider problem that is not being addressed. ANyone else out there had problems with Viking Designer ovens? my email is not the econpatrick (probably full of spam) so i use another one... it is pbrcpa1963 <remove this for spam> hotmail <dot> com Thanks for your help. PS> if you want, I'd be happy to post the serial numbers for all 3 ovens if you'd like. this is not a joke. patrick |
