So I got this old A200 at a thrift store some time ago, and finally
decided to work on it. The power cord was completely frazzled. after hours and hours of cleaning and replacing the cord, guess what........it started, but had a spark, upon starting, off a wire coming from the capacitor, and sparks once consistently at start up. Meanwhile, the previous cord did not seem to be grounded, but my brother says UL requires grounding as soon as possible after entering the case. I noted the wires coming away from the capacitor housing were frayed, so that may have something to do with the spark. But, in any event, I would like to ground it, but don't know where the ground wire should be attached. This is an older model with terminals for 110 or 220 at the on/off switch. Anyone know how much a newer timer type switch costs, and how much trouble that would be to install? While we are at it, a local restaurant supply place that sells used ones told me they just use regular wheel bearing grease for the gears, not food safe grease, since the A200 supposedly has such good seals. Hobart sells food safe grease for $25 per quart, a little pricey if I do not need it. Thanks in advance. Dennis |
