Hi,
I have just got a Morphy-Richards compact breadmaker that produces 1 lb or 1.5 lb loaves and has a timer. It works. All the measurements in the accompanying booklet are in cups, tablespoons, teaspoons and pounds. I, on the other hand, have no problem with SI or imperial units. I'm in the UK so ingredients not generally available here are effectively impossible for me (I'm disabled as well as diabetic). We don't have any specialist stores, Sainsbury's and Waitrose are effectively *it*. I might be able to find other ingredients in Guildford when I go there - i.e. not often. So far I've not gone beyond the manufacturers recipes, familiarising myself with the beast. Can anyone here either a) point me towards a good site for bread recipes or b) share a recipe or two with us here? b) is obviously better! I personally prefer wholemeal bread - but I'll consider *any* recipe. Obviously lower carbohydrate would be better I have made bread before my diabetes was diagnosed, successfully too, but I've had a stroke since. My sense of humour wasn't disabled - but the proper kneading, etc, are beyond me for a while (even with dough hooks). Take care, Phil. "Time wounds all heels."
