Default Valentines Day Treat

My honey just gave me a box of Russell Stover Valentine box of chocolates.
2 pieces are 19g carbs minus 16g sugar alcohol minus 2 g fiber = 1 net carb
for 2 candies. And they are delicious. It is a happy Valentines.

You want to be careful with some of those SF candies, or you could be
spending V-day in the bathroom. :-)

Just watch it! Sugar alcohol is a laxative and can raise your BG despite
what it says on the box.

Enjoy it; but just for fun - test 45 minutes after. Some
people are fine with the 'ols - and some aren't.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
d&e, metformin 1000mg, ezetrol 10mg

If it's a laxative, I would consider that an added benefit.

That's for sure! I was in a state of shock after eating a small bag of
SF gummies one day and found that my bgs were 180! And here I thought
I was being smart!

I decided why not go for the good stuff in very limited amounts right
after my meal. We've got a great candy maker not too far from us
(Boehm's Chocolates) and I'd much rather have one piece of their candy
than a whole box of SF chocolates any day!

And yup, I used to have no problem with the sugar alcohols but not any
more! So I really limit them. Sorbitol is commonly used as a laxative
in nursing homes <g>

Yep.

I buy Lindt's 70%, and occasionally Nestles 85%.

Careful there. If you, personallly, don't digest the sugar alcohols you
will beat a path to the john before long. If you absorb them, you will
find tht you cannot subtract them from the carb total. different strokes
for different folks. Only eat a piece or two a day to avoid problems.
