I found this article about agave syrup today.
I haven't done a ton of research on it, but it seems interesting. It's made from the same plant where tequila comes from... and tastes similar to honey. The thing is it's very low GI. If you want to get some. Amazon.com has a 46 ounce jug of it for $12.50.
Seems like a good deal. It would be nice to find an alternative to splenda for baking.
