So I said she wouldn't eat that canned food. Well for the last few days
around midday, she has been crying for more food. Because I only have a limited amount of the pouched food that she likes (I do have an outstanding online order and have since found a local store that sells it), I gave her a can of the food. Although she didn't eat the whole thing, she did eat about half of the can. So maybe there is hope. |

The food in the pouches is not really very good for them. -- Evelyn "Even as a mother protects with her life her only child, So with a boundless heart let one cherish all living beings." --Sutta Nipata 1.8 |

The vet said I *should* give it to her because she could use the extra moisture. It's the Wellness, grain free. Just meat, vegetables and sometimes fruit, like blueberries. |

I was told not to give the moist pouches from the grocery store, because they contain too many carbs, and will make the cat get fat. -- Evelyn "Even as a mother protects with her life her only child, So with a boundless heart let one cherish all living beings." --Sutta Nipata 1.8 |

At least I've never found grain-free cat food in a supermarket, outside of the meat department, that is. As a dibetic, my ears pricked up with that > information:-) Those are what we used to feed to our dogs many years ago. The one dog we didn't keep. He was a real wild one. We didn't know any better and nobody actually took the time to train him. Our next door was a small one. Very sweet and scared of her shadow. She was more like a cat in many ways. She lived to be 17. Eventually she had liver problems and had to be put on a special diet. I can remember breaking those patties in half though, or if we bought the pouches, giving just half a pouch. She also got something called Blue Mountain Stew. Looked really good. Had chunks of meat, potatoes and peas in it. I don't think we were brand loyal in those days, but we didn't have a lot of money. We never went with the cheapest food, but more likely bought what we had coupons for. |

I've never seen the hamburger type for cats. It was called Semi-Moist. Not moist. KenLRation was one such. Do they even make that any more? As for pouches available in the grocery stores, I don't know. Maui has never eaten those. In fact she hasn't had grocery store food for years. |

We give ours mostly canned food, but leave some high quality dry food out for whenever. The vet always told us not to feed the moist food, but that was a long time ago. They may have made a healthier version since then. -- Evelyn "Even as a mother protects with her life her only child, So with a boundless heart let one cherish all living beings." --Sutta Nipata 1.8 |
