Low Carb Tequila Sunrise

Light, refreshing, and beautiful in the glass. These won't spike your
diabetic diet plan.

Recipe By: Pete Romfh
Serving Size: 6
Cuisine: Mexican
Main Ingredient: Orange Juice
Categories: Low Sugar, Diabetic, Vegetarian, Meatless, Low Fat, No Cook,
Drinks, Appetizers

-= Ingredients =-
~~ -- Low Carb Syrup -- ~~
1/2 cup Splenda
1/2 cup Water
4 drops Red food coloring
~~ -- The Drink -- ~~
2 cups light orange juice ; - Tropicana
2 cups Wyler's Light Sunsplash Orange ; - prepared
2 teaspoons lemon juice
6 ounces Tequila ; - your favorite brand
1 small ~~ lime ~~; - for garnish

-= Instructions =-
Mix Splenda and water in a small sauce pan. Simmer until it reduces to a
light syrup. About 5 minutes. Add red food coloring and allow to cool.

Mix orange juice, orange drink, lemon juice, and tequila in a pitcher. Slice
the lime into thin rounds.

Place about a tablespoon of syrup in the bottom or a tall glass. Fill the
glass 2/3 full of finely crushed ice then gently pour the orange mixture
down through the ice. You want the orange to slightly mix with the syrup but
not be combined with it.

Decorate with a slice of lime and serve.

These are a compromise of flavor and texture. Side by side, ones made with
whole, fresh orange juice taste better. But O.J. give you 26g of carbs/glass
which is a problem for diabetics.

One (8 oz) serving of this contains an estimated:
