Default Coming this Saturday on Semi-Homade: Girl's Hoedown Party

Yippee-yi-yo! It's a Girls' Hoedown Party at
Sandra's. Gather 'round the girls for Chuck
Wagon Brisket With Grilled Texas Mesquite Toast.
As a side, try Texas Mashed Potato Salad. And
for a decadent treat every cowgirl will love,
it's Red Velvet Bars with a cool Cowboy Cocktail.
Yee-haw!

Does this mean Paris Hilton is going to make a guest appearance?

Is this the same hoedown she did last week, where she went to the
hardware store and bought stuff I've NEVER seen in a hardware store,
like bales of hay, and then built a rickety bbq out of bricks for drunk
people to sit around and stumble into?

KILLFILE

HEAGY

in the subject line, so the rest of us that have him killfiled can avoid
him?

Thanks!

I'm guessing the Red Velvet Bars will be a box cake mix with red
marachino cherry juice added for color "and to give it fantastic
flavor!". Cool whip on top, of course. It will look better than store
bought! If the tablescape includes livestock, we may have to report
her to the authorities......

I can't wait to hear how she mangles a brisket. It's not an item that's
really conducive to quick cooking unless you like cutting it with a
chain saw.

Paris Hilton AND Sandra Lee? Together? On the same show? I would pay to
see that! That is simply genius, Big U! Genius!

I would love to be in the same supermarket when Sandra does her shopping.
That has got to be a sight.

Well that's the funny part of it...she doesn't claim that it's "quick
cooking", just that it's easy because she uses 70 percent "prepared"
ingredients for every recipe. I've seen her throw a wheel barrow of
crap into a "slow cooker" ("my favorite kitchen trick!!") and pretend
that it's done in minutes. I'm sure she'll take that poor innocent
brisket and slather it with a combination of seasoning packets, bottled
salad dressings and sauces, and (of course) whipped topping, and voila!
Cowboy brisket!! My stomach is turning just thinking about it, but I
have to watch!!

For cowboys, I bet it will have chili seasoning on it.

I thought it meant that SLoP was going to fall mid show. There's a Ho
Down!

That's real easy. She'll buy already barbecue'd meat in a plastic tub.
And stir in Pilsbury brand Salsa or Duncan Heinz ketchup or something.

Any truth to the rumor that "Taste of Home" is her producer. No, I'm
kidding. But I wouldn't be surprised if Pampered Chef and Ecko are in
bidding wars for her endorsement rights.

Nah, I am thinking she will purchase a pre-marinated brisket.
Perhaps even a pre-cooked one. Then she will add "cowboy" flavoring.

Ewww...that's just gross. Have you ever tasted a cowboy?

OMG Ubi! Tonight I was busy getting my act together to leave for a
week's vacation tomorrow (Outer Banks, NC) and I had Food TV on. The
Semi-Ho was on, but I didn't have time to pay much attention until the
end, when she was showing off a tiered platter of cupcakes, which
looked fine (although I'm sure they were some type of store bought crap
topped with some other store bought crap, but whatever). She proceeded
to show us a decorating tip that she learned from her friend. She
coated rose flower petals with egg white and sprinkled them with sugar.
THEN (after they had obviously dried to a brittle state) she mixed
them with chopped mint and held them high above the cupcake platter and
LET GO. I nearly fell off the couch with laughter....the rose petals
and mint fell on the cupcakes and continued to fall downwards and
sideways, all on the floor....there were like two petals that actually
made it on the cupcake platter. What a stupid idiot for not having
figured that out ahead of time...she looked like it was supposed to be
like that. I'm thinking the floor guy is hating her guts after having
to clean up that mess. It was good for a laugh, though!

Sandy (out of commish for the next week)

Yeah, I remember that ep! She described them as being like "engines
from the sky" and claimed that was the very first time she tried to make
those rose petal things. Yeah, right.
