I have a couple of those all-purpose when-in-doubt go to books,
one of them being Betty Crocker. I generally don't follow the recipes, but I like having a basic one in front of me so I don't forget something basic. It's happened. Pet peeve of mine, dirty cookbook. Just drives me nuts to open one and there is crud on the pages. Man, even writing in a book bugs me, but I tolerate notes in a cookbook. Barely. Some time over the summer, I was looking for a recipe and a couple of pages stuck together, grrrr. So I looked at the edition, looked on ebay and ordered me a 'brand new' replacement. I put the old book in hiding and put the new one on the shelf. And waited to see how long before it was noticed. Fittingly enough, today is the first Sunday of football. That means Ron's in the kitchen making sauce, with meatballs and sausage. Heh, I was cutting up some vegetables to snack on when I hear, I know this isn't the same cookbook because my notes aren't here and the pages aren't dirty. Only took maybe 3 months. He had to laugh. nancy |
