For some reason, to me an odd reason, mac and cheese is considered one of the ultimate comfort foods in the U.S. So apparently most of the U.S. grew up eating it much more than I did. I find it heavy and goopy, and don't know if I've had it since I was eighteen years old, but most adults I know like it. To some Black friends, it's also considered soul food.
