Wow, I think I'll move in with you. You can cook for me ANYTIME. =o)

Some days I get home from work and the last thing I want to do is cook.
Your idea of a simple dinner sounds awfully good to me.

Thanks, Melissa. I cook dinner every night during the week, but I work
from home on Thursdays, so I have a bit more time.

Figs with chevre
Chicken and rice with mushrooms
Plums

The chicken and rice was pretty easy: I put rice and chicken stock into the
rice cooker but didn't turn it on. I browned chicken thighs (no additional
fat needed; they cooked in the fat which rendered from the skin), then put
them into the rice cooker. While the chicken was cooking I halved
(lengthwise) a bunch of royal trumpet mushrooms. I browned the mushrooms
cut-sided down and added them to the rice cooker along with a healthy
sprinkle of Penzey's poultry seasoning and black pepper. Sent the rice
cooker on its merry way, and when it was done I sprinkled the rice with
freshly-squeezed lemon juice.

(I would have made a salad too, but my girlfriend sidetracked me.)

God, I'm starving and that sounds delicious! I had a bad WW week and
I'm back on plan trying to make up for it. :/ Going to Chicago this
weekend for some serious partying with a college roomate's family, and
some Giordano's Pizza. It may be a difficult weekend...

Sounds tasty Wayne!

Like minds. We're having pork as well. Barbequed little rounds of pork
loin with maybe BBQ olly oil tossed vegetables. Not for another 3
hours or so. haven't got into the kitchen yet. Trying to come up with
a quilt design here in my studio.....

How are you doing after the auto accident? Bicyling around whilst
they're off the road?

Cheers

Wayne,

Your meal sounded great! It does sound easy, but what is 'gorgonzola',
please?

Peas are something I haven't had for quite a while, and it is great
with butter. It is one of those greens that shouldn't be overcooked,
but also not underdone- a happy medium.

Is pork better with gravy, or with apple sauce?

Warmest regards,

Miles
Sydney.

I'm not Wayne, and I don't pretend to play him on TV, but gorgonzola is a
cheese; kind of a blue cheese.

sounds great wayne.........................but how about switching to brown
rice?
its better for you!
you can mix the two, until you get use to the taste difference.

That sounds delicious! I always consider fresh figs an "indulgence".

I understand. We're not quite at goal yet, but after all these months we've
needed a few indulgences. :-) Today, back on track! Weigh-in is tomorrow.
:-(

Have a great time in Chicago. I know you will!

I love veggies done on the grill. Have to do that again soon. Do you have
any new quilt images on your website? You certainly do beautiful work.

Actually, we couldn't have come out any better. David is fine, which is
the most important. I have a rental car for a month at only 47 cents/day,
and we just learned that we have a customer service contract with the
dealership where we bought the car that will pay our entire deductible.
The $7800 repair bill will actually cost us nothing!

Thank you, Miles! Gorgonzola is a type of blue cheese, with its own
distinctive flavor.

http://www.cheese.com/Description.asp?Name=gorgonzola

> Peas are something I haven't had for quite a while, and it is great

I agree totally about the cooking.

> Is pork better with gravy, or with apple sauce?

I like the gravy because of either rice or potatoes to put it on, and a bit
on the meat. However, I also love apple sauce with pork. It seems the
perfect accompanyment, but I didn't happen to have any, or any fresh apples
for that matter. Nothing wrong in having both gravy and a side of
applesauce.

I also sometimes roast sliced apples along with a pork roast.

Cheers!

Wow! I was wondering how much that was going to hurt. Not
at all, it seems, monetarily at least. So glad to hear that David is
doing well.

Thanks, Rosie! Actually, I love brown rice but David won't touch it. I've
tried, but he claims he doesn't like the texture. :-( I always use brown
rice when I make rice salad for myself, which he won't eat regardless of the
type of rice.

Sometimes it's hell living with a picky eater!
